Charles Whitman

    In the United States Constitution, the second amendment gives citizens the right to bare arms. This right was granted to help protect us from both foreign and domestic enemies and to be used as a weapon of last resort. For centuries that right was abused, but no one had ever abused that right as Charles Whitman did. Whitman used that privilege as a right to cause destruction and inflict pain in an attempt to solve problems of his own demise. Charles Whitman’s past greatly effected the United States. From childhood to adulthood to his final days, Charles Whitman struggled through life. Charles J. Whitman was born June 24, 1941. He grew up in a five-member family: Charles Adolphus (C.A.), his father, Margaret, his mother, and two younger brothers, John and Patrick. Charles Whitman did not have life on easy street. By the age of three, Charles Whitman started attending a private kindergarten. At six years of age Charles Whitman administered an I.Q. test. For his age Charles scored a 138.9, exceptionally well for his age (Lavergne 1,2,3,6). As a child, Charles Whitman received harsh discipline from his father, C.A Whitman.
