Legalizing Same Sex Marriages
Same sex marriages is one of the corner stones of equality that the lesbian, gay, and bisexual community is fighting for these days. Despite mass public same sex wedding ceremonies, families living as married couples, sometimes with children, and outspoken advocates for the equal right to marry, the law hasn't changed as of yet. Same sex marriages are still prohibited in most countries of the world. Even those which do allow legal same sex marriages restrict the couples' right to have or adopt children. However, public opinion is slowly being swayed. More and more people are starting to realize that there are far more important things to worry about in life than two dykes who want to get married and enjoy the same legal benefits and responsibilities that married heterosexual couples have. Despite this change in the air, there is still a strong undercurrent determined to prevent same sex marriages from ever taking place.
We all know about the "good, old fashioned, God fearing people" who see it as their Christian duty to oppose the legalization of same sex marriages.
