How can men be heros in the most unheroic circumstances? Three less than upstanding citizens portrayed in the novels Motherless Brooklyn, The Deuce, and in the movie Taxi Driver show how even “low-lifes” and criminals can perform very honorable acts to save three social outcasts who are in circumstances similar to or worse than themselves.
