BASEketball
Each year the film industry creates visual art that fits into a preset genre. Such categories range from mystery to romance and from drama to comedy, each having smaller subcategories. For instance, the comedy genre can be divided into categories such as romantic comedy, comedy-drama, and screwball comedies. The 1998 blockbuster hit BASEketball, directed by David Zucker, falls into the screwball comedy realm. The film displays all the characteristics associated with screwball comedies, such as character chemistry, a well written theme, events and dialogue that support the theme, interesting supporting characters, and timeliness. The film?s plot is easy to follow, and interesting to watch.
Joe "Coop" Cooper (Trey Parker) and Doug Remer (Matt Stone) are lifelong friends who invent a new driveway sport, BASEketball, which incorporates the rules and techniques of baseball and basketball, and the only defense is to humiliate or "psyche out" the opponent. After its popularity increases, wealthy businessman Ted Denslow (Ernest Borgnine) offers to buy Joe and Doug?s idea in order to create the National BASEketball League (NBL).
