The SAT test is the oldest and most widely used college entrance exam. It is composed of two sections, Verbal and Math, each of which is scored on a 200 to 800 point scale. There are 138 questions, almost all multiple choice, consisting of analogies, sentence completion, reading comprehension and standard math problems. The test is produced and overseen by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) under contract to the College Board. The test has been under fire since the mid 1970s after it was first widely used in the college admissions process.
