    Social and Political Implications 1. King Phillip’s war took place in New England from 1675- 1676. It was a fierce war between the Algonquians and the English people caused by the spread of settlements. The Algonquian and English lived among each other in tense peace, which was broken at the execution of three Wampanoag men. Metacomet prepared his Wampanoag men for war, and set an alliance with the Narragansetts. The New England colonies as well as New York also prepared for war, but only hoped for more territory. They fought well, but the Originals were defeated in August of 1676. King Phillip’s war caused the tensions that already existed between the English and the Originals to tighten. But the Originals didn’t try to have another organized revolt after this war, because of its large number of tragedies. The Iroquois refused to assist Metacomet in the war, but only
