Is It Immoral to Discriminate Against Homosexuals?
In the past people have associated homosexuals with being evil and wrong for their actions and it is common for people to respond to homosexuality in a negative or offensive way in the present day. One’s main objection is that it is unnatural and is against the Bible and most other religions. Another argument is that sex is for our procreation, male and female together to create life. With same gender sex, we will never have life and it is therefore solely for pleasure. According to this observation, it is wrong to misuse this function. Consequently, any and all sexual pleasure received is immoral without the conception of a child; thus making our entire nation filled with corrupt pleasure seekers. Homosexuals have same ideals as heterosexuals. They want to fall in love, and be loved by another. Something precious that anyone in our culture wishes to achieve. We understand that it is not unnatural and we should understand that nothing could be right or wrong solely because a book of one culture says so. We also can’t say homosexuals are bad because they have sex for pleasure. All people have sex, many times in a lifetime. If we consider homosexuals bad for this reason, we must consider heterosexuals bad as well (Rachels, 45).
