Catholic Belief

    Transubstantiation is a belief that all Catholics have faith in. It is the belief that the priest who is celebrating the mass with the parishioners consecrates the bread and the wine. Whilst the colour, shape and taste remain as bread and wine, the substance of the bread and wine in Catholic faith change into the body and blood of Jesus Christ. The ultimate belief in Transubstantiation amid both the Roman Catholic Church, and the Uniting church, show the practices and methods are slightly different in each denomination. The Roman Catholic Church, the largest of the Christian Churches, is present in all parts of the world. It can be said that most other Christian denominations broke away from the Roman Catholic Church due to different beliefs. It was Jesus, the messiah, who assigned Peter the responsibility of creating the Christian church. Peter was the first pope. At his death, his work was continued by a continuous succession of popes. The Eucharist is celebrated every week in the Roman Catholic Church, and was instituted at the Last Supper and in which bread and wine are consecrated and consumed in remembrance of Jesus' death.
