Emily Dickenson

    Emily Dickinson Emily Dickinson was born in Amherst, Massachusetts, on December 10,1830. She was the second daughter of Edward and Emily Norcross Dickinson. Emily’s mother was not there to help her emotionally and that may have led her to be the person she was. Emily was raised as a Christian, she was expected to take her father’s religious beliefs without argument. When Emily did not follow her father’s religious beliefs her father began to exclude her from reading the books she read because it would draw her attention away from the faith of her religion. Since Emily was the daughter of a politician, Emily could have a good education and therefore went to Amherst Academy. After her time at the academy she attended the Mount Holyoke Coll
