Did technological determinism affect American society and cu
Thorstein Veblen, a notable economist and social scientist, coined the term “technological determinism” in 1915 when he presented his views of a growing “technocratic” nation, America. Technological determinism is a term used to identify technology, wholly, as the prime cause for social change. There have been many controversial opinions regarding the aspect of technology and its role in society. Yet, there is substantial evidence in literature, media, history, military, and economy that shows technology was a prime cause for change. Technology was indeed the sole antecedent cause of changes and shaping of the American society and culture during the beginning of the 20th century to the present time. Three reasons which point to this is its presence in literature of the 20th century, in law and political ideals set during the 20th century and the history throughout the 20th century.
