Peace vs Patriotism

    Peace and Patriotism World peace is every persons inner most desire, but world peace will never be attained in today’s society. It is far to difficult to predict inevitable acts of greed, hatred and personal satisfaction that hinder the world’s ability to attain peace. Therefore it is not a shock that I was angered by the protest for peace which was carried out in the MU quad. The protesters that day showed a complete lack of patriotism and many did not have any convincing arguments to sway me to an outlook of peace. Also their motifs for protest were completely contradictory. Not to mention that military personnel do not frown upon such gatherings. The lack of patriotism which protesters inadvertently display is almost repulsive. In a country which allows all people freedoms that other nations can only dream of, people still feel it is only right to point out why such wars are not right. No one in their right minds enjoys war. This includes protesters, military personnel, citizens, and even the President. However, protesters are somewhat like an orthodox religion. They feel that what they are doing is the only way to resolve the problem, thereby discarding the ideas of their nation’s leaders. Ignorance in a
