The Beatles were definitely one of the greatest and the most influential bands of all time. They were one of the few artists that were simultaneously the best and most popular at what they were doing. They took everything good about Rock & Roll and changed it into something original and more exciting. They were among very few artists that wrote and performed their own music. With success unmatched by any artist before or after them, the Beatles hold the record for most number one singles by any act. Twenty of the Beatles singles reached number one on the charts and most stayed for more than twelve weeks. In fact, combined, the original Beatles albums (not including the Anthologies) have spent a total of 147 weeks at number one on the charts. So the truth lies in the numbers.
The Beatles we all know consisted of a four man operation including: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr). The “Fab Four”, as they soon became known, were all from Liverpool England and came together to make some of the best rock music ever heard.
