John William Van Druten (1901-?) Van Druten was born in London, England on June 1, 1901. He was the son of a Dutch man, Wilhelmus Van Druten, a banker, and also an English mother. Van Druten attended University College School London, where he began to show his talent for writing. However, he began to practice law and was rather good at it. He wrote many poems and short stories and then submitted them to magazines.
